Announcement after the 9th sitting of the Students’ Parliament of the UW for the 2022/2023 term
18 11 2023
We would like to inform you that during the 9th sitting of the Students’ Parliament of the UW for the 2022/2023 term:
Parliament adopted a resolution on amendments to the Regulations of the Students’ Union of the University of Warsaw.
The adopted amendments introduce, firstly, a way of determining (for regulatory purposes) the number of students of units that are just starting to provide education, secondly, improve the wording of two already existing regulations, and thirdly, change the name of the Code of Ethics for Students of the UW to “Code of Sudent Ethics of the UW”.
Parliament adopted a resolution on the enacting a Code of Student Ethics of the University of Warsaw.
The document adopted by Parliament is based almost entirely on the draft Code of October 2021, prepared by a special ad hoc commission at the time. The need to re-enact the document arose from the legal doubts that were raised against the validity of the existing code. The code itself sets out model patterns of behaviour for every student. It includes, among other things, acting for the common good, observing moral and ethical principles, respecting the law, striving for self-improvement, fulfilling student obligations, respecting the dignity of others, working for equality and against discrimination. The Code will come into force on 1 December 2023.
Parliament heard the basic theses of:
- the annual report on the activities of the President and the Board of the Students’ Union of the UW;
- the annual report of the Revision Commission of the Students’ Union of the UW;
- the annual report on the activities of the commissions of the Students’ Parliament of the UW.
The basic theses of these documents were presented by the chairmen of the respective bodies. The presentations were followed by discussions, the longest of which was the one on the report and the annual activities of the President and the Board. There was also an exhaustive discussion on the annual report of the Revision Commission, followed by its approval.
Parliament discharged the President of the Students’ Union of the UW and the members of the Board of the Students’ Union of the UW.
The sitting also saw the honouring of 24 Members with a 100% attendance record at parliamentary sittings of the term. The ‘Golden Mouth’ prize was also awarded to Jan Wieczorek (WLS) for his activity during debates and speeches.
