Announcement after the 4th sitting of the Students’ Parliament of the UW for the 2023/2024 term
29 02 2024
We would like to inform you that during the 4th sitting of the Students’ Parliament of the UW for the 2023/2024 term:
Parliament held by-elections. The following were elected:
- Hanna Szewczyk (MIMUW) as a member of Revision Commission of the Students’ Union of the UW;
- Maja Baranowska (WZ) as a candidates for the Senate Committee on Personnel Policy.
Parliament adopted a resolution on amendments to the Regulations of the Students’ Union of the University of Warsaw.
The adopted amendments constitute the implementation of the UW Rector’s Resolution No. 171 of 28 November 2023 on the principles of granting funds for the implementation of projects by university student organisations. By virtue of the amendment in question, a new body of the Students’ Union of the UW has been created – the Council of Scientific, Social and Artistic Organisations of the UW (RONSiA), which is the Council competent for student scientific movement matters within the meaning of the aforementioned Resolution and the successor of the abolished Consultative Council for Student Scientific Movement.
Apart from some changes due to the necessity to adapt the functioning of the body to the conditions of the Students’ Union, it is the assumption of the drafters that the Regulations of the RONSiA retain a considerable number of procedures known from the Consultative Council. The RONSiA will primarily be charged with the task of dealing with applications for funding for the implementation of projects by student organisations and acting as an intermediary in the process of processing applications for targeted grants from the UW Rector. During the parliamentary discussion preceding the adoption of the resolution, the issue of the financial resources that student organisations will have access to received particular attention, in view of the transfer of the right to grant funding to student organisations from the Board of the Students’ Union of the UW to RONSiA. The election procedure for RONSiA elections has been designed along the lines of the existing election procedure for the Consultative Council. Other solutions hitherto appropriate from the other of these councils have also been maintained or adapted accordingly.
